I just replaced the battery in my Inspiron B I was told to condition the battery by letting it run out and then charging it fully three times. On the second time of charging it I noticed the battery light starting rapidly flashing orange while it was still plugged in.
I unplugged it and it stopped. I never had the orange light come on with my first battery, this is completely new and I have not been able to find any answer to why it's doing it. The manual indicates that it should flash orange when the battery is low and not plugged in. For me, the computer is plugged in and charging and the orange light comes on.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is there something wrong with the new battery I bought? Go to Solution. View solution in original post. If not from Dell, it could be a used battery that has been "reconditioned" and is probably no good. You should have a Lithium Ion battery, which does not need to be recharged multiple times to achieve full charge. Ya I have the same problem, only mine seemed to come out of nowhere. I too have experienced the same issue after installing a new battery purchased off e-bay from battery monster.
I just joined this forum for this same problem. The only thing is, my battery is still the one that came with my Dell InspironI have it for a few yrs, but it just started doing the flashing thing yesterday. And then when I reboot I get the safety window wanting me to start back up in safe mode. Is this something I can just ignore except for the flashing light, or do I have a problem that I have to get taken care of?
I too am a user. My Inspiron is flashing 4 amber and one green. Why don't Dell publish the cause of these 'messages'? The LEDs on the battery do nothing. The battery meter says the battery is performing normally and is charging. If I unplug it from AC, it shuts off instantly. Is my battery toast or is it something else? I haven't found anything definitive in the help section. How can I determine if it is the battery or the charger? Try your charger and battery individually in another laptop.
If both are OK, you probably have a system board DC power socket problem. Browse Community. Turn on suggestions. battery light inconsistent blinking orange and green
What should I do? PS : I don't know if it is a Windows7 issue, or if even with the computer off, it happens when the battery finish recharging. Charging will be stopped by design if the battery is overheating. If you remove the battery when shut down, can the power adapter alone successfully start the laptop and keep it running when used?

To answer your questions : 1 The battery was absolutely cold 2 I can use the computer without battery I used it the whole day without the batteryand everything is normal. So it seems to be an other issue. Unfortunately, G53SW owners also report power connector pin breakage in the referenced thread.
You'll need to do more troubleshooting to narrow down the possibilities. I "also" had the same problem with my previous original OEM Asus battery. The AC adapter and the pin is OK, no problem at all, but i'm not still able to understand what's wrong about the batteries, is there a system fault or did i have 2 faulty batteries in a row?Menu Menu.

It's a laptop where you can't take the battery out without screwing screws off. I have the power cable in constantly and there is electricity going through the cable always.
When I take the cable out it keeps blinking. I usually put my laptop in slumber mode at night, and occasionally restart the system sometimes also. I only use the laptop for browsing the internet on different social media sites. It doesn't feel overheated. I'm on Windows I don't think I have any warranty or insurance to get it fixed anywhere.

Asus X551MAV - Battery LED blinking between orange and green, indicator frozen.

This happened after I sent it to RMA and they replaced my battery with a faulty one. I contacted aeolisio about the problem and he told me I had two options 1. Get a new battery and replace it as the current battery might have some damaged cells and causing the battery to fail.
Rebuild the current battery pack by changing the cells.
Asus Laptop battery light is blinking orange all the time when it's on
I also read some posts about holding the power button down for ten seconds solving the blinking battery indicator and the not fully charging problem for some people and it was same for me. Also the battery used to get super hot - another indicator of failed battery I think. Worst case scenario your motherboard is faulty and it's causing the problem.
But from what I observed in the forum everyone got this problem about the same time so it's probably because of a bios update. So, I sent the laptop to aeolisio and he checked my laptop battery and told me that the battery was indeed damaged.laptop not turning on but indicator blinking, laptop not Shutdown Completely 2019
He advised me that getting a new OEM battery is the safest thing to do as the current battery may have faulty wiring that caused it to fail in the first place. So I ordered a new battery and he replaced it.
He was quiet patient with my questions even did a thermal repaste as I requested. So, if there are any guys with G out of warranty and have a battery problem like mine you could either do the testing yourself or send it to aeolisio. You have to pay for his services though, but he's quiet reasonable. He lives in California, luckily around 6 miles from my place so the whole process was smooth.

battery not charging (green and orange led light flashing)
Featured Deal: Get started in artificial intelligence with this online course deal. Posted 01 September - PM. Hey everyone. Everything's been working perfectly until this morning when I realized that the LED light for the battery is constantly blinking between orange and green.
Unplugging it doesn't change anything, the blinking LED will only turn off if the laptop is powered off and unplugged. If I plug it in while it's powered off, the blinking persists. Since normally it would display about 3 and a half hours after having unplugged it from a full charge, the indicator is definitely frozen up.
I've had it powered on unplugged for a long while now with no changes. I also noticed that since this began the touch pad on the laptop is laggy, meaning that if I move the pointer around it'll frequently kind of slow down and then jump to the destination. I upgraded to Windows 10 last month as well but everything went fine with the transition and I haven't had any problems until now, probably worth mentioning though. I almost always use the laptop while it's plugged in on AC power, only rarely will I use it on battery life because it usually stays in one spot on my desk.
I'm thinking that this may have contributed to the problem Normally I would have power cycled the laptop to try and fix this, but my particular model has an internal battery and no reset pin of any sort on the bottom.
I've been searching the net for the past few hours trying to find solutions and coming up blank.
Is that as effective as removing the battery to power cycle? If you guys have any idea on what I might do to fix this problem I'd appreciate it so much, I'm not in a good financial position right now so I gotta make this laptop last as long as I can, and I'm completely out of ideas.
Thank you so much in advance. But before you start to do something else, try to work without a cable, ie using only battery power until the computer is switched off. Then connect the charger and wait for some time minutes is enough before turning it on again.
If all is the former of course, it takes a long time before the battery is full, usually about hour or twothen the problem is in the battery.
When the battary orange-green light stops flashing, is needed to begin a mistake to look elsewhere. I appreciate the info kaljukass, that was the video I watched earlier this afternoon when I tried taking it apart, very helpful stuff. General update on the situation: I watched videos on the laptop while it was running on battery power until it turned off.
Afterward I held the power button for a couple minutes or so in an attempt to power cycle it, just for good measure.Due to high volumes, response times in the community may be delayed over the next few days.

I saw that yesterday and wasn't too worried, except that now I saw my screen flash orange, randomly. I was looking for a way to run tests in the start menu.
One thing comes to mind I have no screen saver running and set my display so that the programs I have running will display without interruption. I also have the power set to simply stay on, without sleeping, hibernating, or shutting down. Do I need to have regular shut downs or something? Anyhow I need to have a constant screen display. Check your laptop documentation before plugging in third-party batteries. This could be the power adapter, motherboard, or battery. Shut down the laptop, take the battery out, and try to start the laptop up with only the power adapter. If it doesn't start, you may have an adapter problem. New battery working perfectly with the system now. I did as directed with the old battery thinking it might revive it but to no avail, light were still flashing This gave me a strong confirmation that the old battery is dead of a truth immediately I plugged in the For future ref.
Hi there. Is this a battery problem only? Pamela Chism-Newman I would say it's highly possible, though not definite to be a battery problem. If your laptop boots up with the battery out and the charger plugged in, it means that the laptop is able to draw power correctly from the charger. So, the remaining culprit would either be the battery or circuitry responsible for charging and managing battery power.
The latter is most likely part of the motherboard and is not easy to replace Show 3 more comments. Posted: January 1. I had a similar issue. My laptop would stay on with the charger plugged in but the charging light would be flashing orange and the battery indicator would never show full charge or that it was even charging.
To my surprise, this simple fix actually worked. The light is now solid green and the battery charge indicator reads as it should. It first indicated it was 10 minutes to a full charge and updated until it reached full charge.
